Also a big thank you to all who came and participated in this months training on Catheter Care; we loved the dynamic atmosphere and willingness to interact and learn.

Office News.

As you may know, we have hired new After Hours Coordinators. Michelle and Melissa.

These coordinators will be supporting the team after hours on weekends.

We welcome them to the team and thank them for the work they have been doing recently.

In other news we have had a change in Coordinators for Sutherland.

I would like to inform you all, that Danielle will no longer be working in our team.

Unfortunately things have not worked out, and in the best interests of the team, we have come to the decision to part ways.

We are moving forward and would like to have a team that works within our core  values, that are so important to us all.

If you have any questions or concerns over this matter please do not hesitate to contact Penny Colvin the HR Manager on 9669 1965.

Friendship Walk

The Friendship Circle brings a refreshing approach to assisting children with special needs and their families. In 2014, this event was held on the 7th of September and we were there to join in the fun.

Friendship walk 1_EmailThe Friendship Circle brings a refreshing approach to assisting children with special needs and their families. Their creative activities are designed to foster a relationship between children with special needs and teenage members of our community, “buddies”, by drawing on the love, boundless energy and dynamism of our teenaged population.

Just Better Care is a corporate sponsor of this event and Fiona Moody, my lovely wife Cindy and I were lucky enough to attend on the day. It was hectic and exciting but such an awe-inspiring experience. We spent a frantic four hours helping out with things like registration and handing out t-shirts and I had fun playing lollypop man

JBC’s 2014 Christmas Cruise

Christmas Party 2014 011_EmailThere was a fabulous turnout this year – a testament to the dedicated office team who put this event together so everyone could enjoy our ‘Someone Famous’ theme while cruising around beautiful Sydney Harbour.

Thanks also to the 28 Care Professionals who were joined by six office staff on board this year’s Fun Boat that departed from Darling Harbour with a cast of colourful and glamourous characters on board for the evening.

True to our ‘Someone Famous’ theme, people dressed up in amazing costumes. On board we hosted: Cruella De Ville, Cleopatra, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Ned Kelly, Marylin Monroe and many more – even Santa made an appearance!

The Best Fancy Dress costume award went to Gary Bradbury’s Ned Kelly (see pics) (intranet url: https://intranet.justbettercare.com.au/GraphicApp/view_items.cfm?MenuID=5094&CategoryID=1)

During the formal part of the evening, certificates were presented to Care Professionals who showed outstanding work practices based on our company values: Professional, Communication, Respect, Team, Empower and Learning.

Everybody loved the fantastic location and we were treated to an amazing fireworks spectacle at Darling Harbour that topped off a perfect evening.

A HUGE thank you again for the awesome effort with costumes and to staff for organising JBC Fun Boat – see you again next year.

Certificate III & IV Training

Cert3 photos_Eugene Chen_EMAIL

This year has been a great year for training. We had 15 Support professionals complete either their Certificate III and/or IV in the industry. Our JBC teams recently started a new group of 8 students for Certificate III in Aged Care and 3 students in Certificate IV in Aged Care or Disability.

We are looking to start a new group of students at the beginning of 2015 so look out for announcements for the starting dates!

Staff Social

BBQ in the park

Our recent Just Better Care social was fun, friendly and well attended.

We all enjoyed the sunshine of early spring as well as the fabulous food, great company and relaxing location.bbq2

These get-togethers are casual affairs and everyone is welcome. One-on-one private care is important and rewarding work but sometimes is very isolating.

Because you, the carers, perform such vital community services, we use our social events to acknowledge your hard work and bring everyone together for support and fun.

Also, because carers are at the core of Just Better Care, we want to recognise all our professionals for simply doing what you do!

“Without our staff we would not be in business” Phillip Behr, Director Just Better Care.

If you missed this social, don’t worry, there will be plenty more, now that BBQ season has begun.
